Education Miseries

I have extensively researched about the problems faced by the people mostly the youth in our country, and I found education a very crucial one, which has received very little importance in our society. While doing my research on education, I encountered many drawbacks. I further narrow downed it and tried to find the root cause of this feeble education system. Below is the conclusion of my experience and opinion.

Pakistan has a large youth population. An estimated 103 million or 63 percent of the population falls under the age of 25 years. Due to endemic poverty, the majority of youth in Pakistan do not have the opportunity to experience a better education. In developing countries like Pakistan, youth is the major asset and plays a prominent role in the country’s growth and prosperity. But unfortunately, due to the traditional educational system and rote learning mechanisms, our youth are not capable to perform well in this modern digitized technology-driven world. Our youth is not aware of the many opportunities, and they are not able to decide and opt for the right career. Many reasons intervened here some are: lack of proper guidance and mentorship, family pressures and expectations, and no career counseling to name a few.

Pauperism is another major problem for our youth. Due to lack of resources, they are unable to get quality education and pursue their field of interest. Poverty is a sort of insidious disease which is weakening our youth. They are unable to fully use their talent and serve their country. Dismally, poverty hinders many parents their children to be schooled, birthing child labor in our society. That’s the reason why the rich become richer and the poor become poorer.

The word “Education” carries a huge weight and value; still, it’s real meaning has been neglected and faded out by many of us. According to Wikipedia in general, Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods include teaching, training, storytelling, discussion, and directed research. And, according to Islamic studies, Education is balanced growth of the total personality through training the spirit, intellect, rational self, feelings, and bodily senses such that faith is infused into the whole personality. Dismally, our educational sectors, institutions have become just a degree generating machines.

Those fortunate youth who have the facilities to get proper education, many of them irrespective of their interest are thrown somewhere very far from their interest that they don’t want to pursue. The day a child gets admitted into a school, he heard from his parents, family, teachers, and surrounding about two only so-called professions “Doctor” and “Engineer.” And sadly, many students are forced to choose one of these professions, crushing their talents and keen interests in other subjects. No profession is good or bad, it’s about how competitive you are in the field and how well you perform matters. A country isn’t run only by doctors or engineers everyone needs to understand this.

Pakistani youth is the best talented youth the world has ever seen. The Youth in the west gets groomed by developed organizations. But despite every intricacy, Pakistani youth is the only youth that is generating records in the field of technology, sports, and computer science without the availability of correctly structured learning institutes. In the end, I would say that our youth have lost their individuality; they have lost their identity completely. We need to allow our youth to regain their identity, their true profound potential. Proper grooming is required for this purpose.

Modern problems requires modern solutions. Ever heard about that? Same applies to education.
